Barred Owl
Hello!
Responding to your request for owl information. I’ve heard a Barred Owl calling loudly and clearly four nights this week (Monday – Thursday) from south of my house on Maplecrest. Monday, the calls were very close, and my guess is that he was between Maplecrest Ct and Maplecrest Dr. The other nights he was further south – either between the Drive and Boone’s Ferry or just south of Boone’s Ferry in Tryon. The calls occurred between 11:30pm and midnight each night and lasted for 3-5 minutes, with a call about every 30 seconds or so. We did not hear him last night, but did hear the neighborhood Screech who hangs out in the yard. Not technically the park but <shrug> we hear him all the time. Never heard a Barred though in the 5+ years I’ve been there, so very exciting!
